Sports Medicine at Baruch College is responsible for the health and safety of the College's intercollegiate student-athletes. Serving all thirteen teams, the staff is comprised of the Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Medicine, Team Physicians, and per diem Athletic Trainers. As a part of the health care team, services provided by athletic trainers include primary care, injury and illness prevention, wellness promotion and education, emergent care, examination and clinical diagnosis, therapeutic intervention and rehabilitation of injuries and medical conditions.

The Athletic Training Room, B3-116, is located in the Athletic and Recreation Center (ARC) within the basement (B3 level) of the William and Anita Newman Vertical Campus (VC) on the corner of 24th Street and Lexington Avenue.

Medical Clearance Guidelines:

The deadline for 2022-2023 Student-athletes to have completed all of their sports medicine paperwork (including physicals) on SportsWare is August 5^th.

Physical/Annual Health Appraisal Requirements:
·       The NCAA requires all NEW student-athletes to have a physical on file that was completed within 6 months of the individual's first day of participation. There are NO exceptions. New student-athletes DO NOT have to fill out an Annual Health Appraisal.
·       Returners are STRONGLY ENCOURAGED, but not required, to get a physical within 6 months of participation as well.  If you do not get a physical, you will be required to complete an Annual Health Appraisal, and come on campus for an in-person evaluation.
·       Proof of Sickle Cell status (including a lab report) is mandatory for all student-athletes.

YOU CAN NOT PARTICIPATE IN ANY ATHLETIC PRACTICE OR CONTEST UNTIL ALL OF THE REQUIREMENTS ARE COMPLETED, RECEIVED, AND APPROVED BY THE SPORTS MEDICINE STAFF!
